Events || 4th of July In Boston

It is a couple weeks later and here I am posting pictures of my favorite holiday... in my favorite city. Bostonians know how to celebrate. Together! Sorry that the pictures are out of order. I haven't quite figured out how to rearrange the photos in this editor on this new computer.

Events || Abigail's Baptism

I always enjoy being asked to photograph an event, specifically. This time I was nervous! I was in a situation where I had one chance and ZERO natural light. After much anxiety, talking to myself out loud, and being reassured by my side kick (aka boyfriend) I was up and at it in front of the baptismal tank. I got a chance to snap a few of the person before Abigail's turn which helped. I also was using my flash, but didn't like how it was coming out. Here is what I came up with, without the flash.

Events || Ashley's Baptism

I like helping people out. For instance, I found out that one of the mom's in my church was concerned about being able to get pictures of her daughter's baptism on New Years day. The thing is that a big window is behind the baptismal tank. When ever someone takes a picture using automatic settings the pictures ends up under exposed and all you see is light from the window. So, I wanted to help out. I knew that using manual settings would offer what the mom was looking for. I also wanted the opportunity to capture another joyful event, maybe something that most people don't think of when they think photographer. It also gave me the chance to get out there and get used to the idea of people seeing me, doing my job and what I love. Enjoy the pictures!

Events || Brian's Birthday

I had the pleasure of photographing a birthday party for the first time. When I decided to do it I thought to myself, "now I need to buy myself a flash." So, off I went into the cyber world and looked at what it had to offer. I am now an owner of a flash. I never thought I would get into it but I think with all the stuff it came with I could really experiment and change my outlook.

Well, with this birthday party came lots of moving around. The kids had free reign of the place and so I did my best to capture them playing with their friends or just getting them at their best. Without even seeing my work their mother wanted me to photograph such a special event. Having someone trust me like that made me work hard. I hope that I was able to bring some smiles and satisfaction.

I decided to only put up a few from the evening.

Enjoy!

Event || 4th of July

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday. Its simplicity, patriotism, and warmth just hit a soft spot in my heart. I should have researched more on how to photography fireworks, but I was able to get a few things from it. I even took a video. : ) When all else fails, take a video I guess. Haha. This will probably be it till next week. I am off to Michigan to visit family and friends. Maybe they will let me photograph them. Oh, and my favorite part of the 4th would be fireworks. I love them.

Here is the video! Enjoy!

Event || Dad's Graduation

My dad has been working on this Masters in Computer Science degree for 25 years. He had to put it off for several years because my brother and I entered the world. Sometimes it takes a long time to reach your goal, but it is definitely possible. Goals are what drive us and the lack there of makes us just plain unmotivated. Reach your goals! Or at least try to figure out what they are.

Here are a few pictures of the day. My dad graduated from Boston University.

A view of the platform before all the graduates filed onto the field.

Here is my Grandpop sporting the free hats they were passing out. Definitely was a good idea for that hot, sunny day.

Some free water and a picture of the BU mascot!

And my dad in his hat and gown. The Masters gown has some pretty funky sleeves. Wish I could have gotten a picture that showed them off!

I gave my dad a coupon for washing his car this summer. I thought it was a pretty nifty idea. Now he can chill and take that much needed vacation! I am a pretty proud kid. : )
